After hightailing it through the desert in four and a half hours to perform in Los Angeles last night, we had no choice but to exploit the inherent props at a movie theater: giant film screen, surround sound, reclining movie seats, and shook 18 year olds eating popcorn awaiting dubstep, electro, and sublime laptop music. It was odd at first rapping in front of seated people with “Blast of Silence” on the screen behind us. But once we settled in, and the crowd didn’t whip out some 3-D glasses like the guy in “Back to the Future”, we rocked the house like we had to.
Props to Shlomo, Mount Kimbie, Strangeloop, Low Limit, Asura, Anna Caravelle, My Dry Wet Mess, Sahy Uhns, and the supreme beat team of Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, and Samiyam who popped in late for the festivities.
