Mitch Richmond and Mark Price were so deadly. Right when I started watching bball, Price was on the decline and Rich was on his way to Washington but I'll be darned if they weren't two of the best shooters of the 90's.

And Glen Rice was so automatic, the Lakers had to grab him to ensure they'd start their dynasty. Dudes were copying his form back in HS. Good post, good memories

Honorable mentions to my list:

Hubert Davis (UNC bomber and the only player I liked on the Knicks on the 90s besides Greg Anthony. learning to like him as an analyst for ESPN)

Rodney Rogers (was overjoyed with the Jim O'Brien Sixers rented him for the stretch run a few years back. and he still looks like Morris Chestnut.)

Allan Houston (when he played for Detroit and his first 2 years in NYC, he was one of my favorite guards to watch. too much money, too many injuries killed him)

Michael Dickerson (wish he could've played longer--a beast at Arizona and a truly underrated 2 guard who unfortunately had to get drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies)

Keith Askins (him and Vincent Askew were 2 of my favorite guys to put on my teams in NBA Live. They offered no other skill besides hitting open threes off kick-outs from double teams)

Voshon Leonard (one of the slowest guards I've ever seen in person but man he could light it up)

Nick Van Exel (I always hated the Sixers for taking Jaren Jackson over Nick in the second round. Van Exel was flashy, obnoxious, and fearless. He was the west coast Iverson on a budget but with a much better outside shot. He also had no clue how to run an effective half court offense)

And about 2 months ago, I was at a diner in South Philly at 2:30 am, sitting 2 booths away from Tim Legler (of LaSalle University). He looked well-rested, tan, and was flocked by a gorgeous women and 2 friends. He recommends the veal parm--it's tremendous! (peace to Lauren, Dom P, and Vas for recommending Oregon Diner that night)

I never liked the Jazz as a whole - Stockton and Malone may be my least favorite players ever - but I have to give it up for Jeff Hornacek. Dude looked like a CPA, but he'd drop threes on you all day long. He was pretty much unstoppable in NBA Live 95, too.

My other pick would be Chris Morris. He wasn't exactly a "marksman" in actual games, as his primary objective once the clock started running seemed to be to shatter the backboard as many times as possible (this was before they put in the hydraulic backboards once Shaq got in the league), but during warmups he was one of the best shooters I've ever seen. Before each game he would stand out by the tunnel entrance, where all of the players walk in to the arena from the locker rooms, and start shooting from there. He'd hit about 50% of them.

Man, I love that you put the Wizard on that list. I would trade for him every time on NBA Live '97 and just kill it from downtown with him.

Glen Rice is the reason I became I Heat fan. He was too long for players of that day. Just shoot right over them.

I've got a list.
Matt Bullard from the Rockets. He was lights out from downtown and was a good role player for the Rockets title runs in the mid-nineties. Him and Eric Piatkowski pretty much started the craze of having one tall white guy on your team who could shoot the long ball.

Speaking of. Piatkowski was with the Clippers for what seemed like twenty years. Anytime he was in the game, everyone knew he was shooting the three. No one could really stop him. He shot 46.6% from beyond the arc in 01-02!

Finally Voshon Leonard. Again, a Heat player, but he would light it up quick. Once he got started, you had to worry because he would go off for four and five straight threes and he could do it on a regular basis. He was kind of like the poorman's Vinnie Johnson. Or like Bill Simmons says, the Homeless man's.

Honorable mentions to Thunder Dan Majerle, Steve Kerr, Kerry Kittles, Vernon Maxwell, Dennis Scott, and Tim Legler.

Thank you for paying homage to the God. Mark Price is my all-time favorite NBA basketball layer, too.

I always felt John Stockton was a pretender to the throne of the greatest white point guard of the '90s.

I have too many fond memories of watching Mark coolly drain three pointers at the old Richmond Coliseum back when I was in elementary school.

And it's Hot Rod Williams. Not Cadillac Williams. Get your head in the game, Zilla.

p.s. i agree about lebron, zilla. watching him destroy kids in high school was like watching my 31-year-old friend cram on some 9-year-old mexican kid. he totally posterized this kid, knocked him on his ass, and then had the audacity to say, "get up, holmes! you ain't hurt!"

it was literally the funniest thing to ever happen in my lifetime.

Damn Zilla u took it back... for the longest Rock Richmond was like a low budget MJ on the west coast....
Glen Rice def was killin it when he balled... back from when he gunned the comp down for 184 points in the tournament with Rumeal Robinson and the wolverines...... to when he was an alltime beast on nba2k on dreamcast.
I've always had a love hate relationship for ray allen.. I loved him in college...but hated him for ruining A.I.'s debut with the sixers.... then loved him for shitting on denzel in he got game.. then hated him for being with the bucks in 01, then loving him again for starting the psuedo-beef with KB8-24

Price was the shit, back when he and Craig Ehlo consisted of the accountant and lawyer backcourt of the cuyahoga

But im wondering how u forgot about Wardell Curry!!!!!

Watching LeBron in high school against other actual high school kids was kinda creepy--it was like seeing your older brother in college going to some soph hop as a favor to a family friend's daughter.

Reggie was unreal, and I always wanted him to get a title with those Pacers teams of the 90s. I loved watching Dale Davis and Mark Jackson grind it out. And the Knicks were criminals. I just think if Mitch Richmond ever got that chance, he'd be remembered better and recognized as one of the illest shooters and competitors of his time.
